It has taken 3 days but I have finally updated my website. I have computer elbow and shoulder. Yes, my wrist hurts too. It was grueling, but it was much needed and very overdue. Now it’s onto real work. I have 45 days to work and produce enough inventory for the Bead&Button Show. It’s freak out time! I have to be done on May 31. On June 1, I leave for Columbus, OH for to set up for the TNNA show. It’s over on 6/4. I come home unpack, repack and leave on the 6/6 for Milwaukee, WI. Phew.

Take a look at the newly designed website ClayButtons.com Let me know what you think.

Come back Wednesday to get a code for 10% off when you order. It’s my birthday and I want you to celebrate with me!

Robin's Egg Nest
Robins’ Eggs…Eggsactly!
I thought I would post these for Easter and for Spring. Even though here in the Cincinnati area we are back to winter weather. One day it was 80º the next day it was only 40º. Major shock!
The eggs were made to look like Robin’s eggs. I hand formed them, which was not a easy task, even though in my mind I kept thinking how hard can it be to make an egg shape. Once I figured it out and got into a groove, I made a few dozen.
Terrarium
I made the nests to go inside small terrariums. I loved the terrariums but I tend to forget to water plants and they don’t make it long without water. This was my version, Wood Excelsior and clay Robin’s Eggs. They don’t need water!
This could fit with Art Bead Scene’s Monthly Challenge!

Art Bead Scene

I am proud to say I am part of a group of wonderful bead makers that have started new blog called Art Bead Scene! It is a daily blog about artist made beads in all materials: ceramic, glass, polymer clay, metal, wood, paper, fabric, everything!
Our goal is to unite bead makers with the designers who use art beads. We have lots of fun things planned…interviews with bead makers, designers, and bead stores reviews of books, magazines and tools info about new findings and cool beads, bead business articles from professionals in the biz and tons of ideas about how to use these great little works of art we call art beads!

Art beads are made by individual artisans in independently owned studios. They work either alone or in very small studios, making one of a kind beads by hand or in small batches. Most are self representing, meaning you can buy their beads directly from them, although some work with stores to get their beads into the hands of the public. Art beads are not made in factories or sweatshops in mass quantities. When you buy art beads, you support the people who make them directly.
Now, before you get out your dictionary, we use a very broad scope when we use the word “bead”. By definition, a “bead” is a item with a hole to be strung onto string or wire and worn. But there are so many beautiful things that are related to “beads” that we like to expand our vision to include buttons, charms, pendants, links, and other components that are intended for making into wearable crafts. We are aware of the literal definitions and prefer to just use the word “bead” for all of it.
Art beads can be made in many materials. Glass, ceramic, polymer clay, metal, and natural materials are all very popular choices for artists to use for handcrafted beads. We hope to write about all of these materials, and intend to seek out new and exciting new materials that artists are using to create art beads.
Art beads are usually made with the intention of becoming a part of a beautiful piece of jewelry. Bead makers are often the first step in the process of the journey of the art bead, making the beads and sending them onto another artist who uses them to create their own art in the form of jewelry or other crafts. It is a truly inspirational process and very special relationships can develop between the artist who make the beads, the artists who turn the beads into jewelry, and even the owner of the finished jewelry.
Great jewelry tells a story. Artists write the story, and art beads are the inspiration to that story. We at Art Bead Scene hope to bring together the creative people who can make these stories come to life!

Check out Art Bead Scene and make it part of your regular bookmarks!
The crew at Art Bead Scene is comprised of 7 women who make art beads themselves. We hope you will become a part of this wonderful world of Art Beads.
